MEET SALLY STEELE

In February 2022, the world changed irrevocably for myself and my two teenage daughters, when  Jason, my beloved husband of 28 years, died unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm whilst on a regular Saturday morning bicycle ride. 

The unimaginable became our new reality.  

I promised my kids in the car to the hospital that we would not merely survive and get through it but that I would ensure we thrived. 

And based on where we are now - I feel I have walked my talk. 

It's not been easy. 

Over the last few years I have navigated my own grief, whilst supporting my kids through theirs, and  shared my journey through social media outlets, becoming an unofficial grief mentor and igniting the development of a new book project and a TV series collaboration. 

Born in Glasgow, I am a creative strategist, advisor, mindset mentor, speaker and author whose career began in market analysis and trend forecasting 30 years ago before emigrating to Sydney in 2001 and moving into Strategic Marketing & Comms for Film, TV & Lifestyle brands. 

At Dendy and then at Hopscotch from its inception, I have been responsible for over 250 strategic comms campaigns of some of the most seminal independent films of the 2000s and worked with the Who’s Who of the Australian film and TV industry as well as globally respected brands including Samsung, BBC Worldwide, Tag Heuer, National Geographic across diverse themes & platforms. 

After winding down my agency to move to Brisbane in 2009 to help care for my terminally father and mother with cancer, I began STEELEMyStyle - a strategic decision to be able to live an intentional life.

I diversified my screen-focussed Strategic Comms agency into a consultancy focusing on Strategy, Impact & Storytelling as as well as mentoring business owners to lead an intentional values and heart led life. 

In 2019 I self-published my book on self-love and sustainable style Dare More, Care Less., which has sold over 15,000 copies to date in  Australia and the UK. During Covid, I pivoted and launched my podcast The Sally Steele Show.and used my values to keep my direction 

I  fulfilled a long held personal goal, using my  career expertise,  skills & connections  to create social enterprises, strategic pathways and employment partnerships, personal development, digital literacy  & business skills courses  for  Beyond DV, supporting women and children to rebuild their lives following domestic and family violence. Creatively, I have helped develop their podcast, apps and create social media campaigns as well as  present at their Dress to Express day, in partnership with Brisbane Fashion Festival.  

If there is something I know how to do well it is to keep living, learning, evolving and reinventing myself and my career so I can focus on living a heart and value led life of joy, peace, connection and prosperity & purpose.
