SALLY & MINDSET & STRATEGY

Born in Glasgow as the kid of an expat, Sally's early strategic career began post MA from St Andrew's Uni & the Sorbonne and 2 years in rural Japan, in London, working for the newly created Japan Dept at Euromonitor, first in Consumer Market Forecast Analysis, before moving into their marketing consultancy arm supporting brands to break into the Japanese market. 

On emigration to Sydney, Sally moved into Strategic Marketing, Comms & Partnerships for Film, TV & Lifestyle brands first at Dendy Films, then at newly formed Hopscotch, before starting her own strategic agency Gallus & Co and expanding the client roster to include the Who's Who of the Australian Film & Entertainment Industry : Sydney Film Festival, IF Awards, Dendy Cinemas. During this time, Sally was responsible for the comms strategy for some of the most seminal, controversial and successful independent films of the decade.

In the same week, Sally gave birth to her first child her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, swiftly followed by a terminal diagnosis for her father, which resulted in a decision to wind down her agency and move to Brisbane to support family. . 

Jobless and newly pregnant, Sally strategically reinvented her career to be able to live an intentional value-led life and diversified her screen-focussed Strategic Comms agency into a Life, Style, Brand & Business Consultancy. She began STEELEMyStyle and through her work with thousands of  women & men in change rooms, workshops and  their wardrobes, realised  80% of her work was mindset related.  

Soon, Sally was mentoring individuals, brands and businesses on building a bold, authentic brand, enjoying a value and heart -led career that supports family life as well as fulfilling bigger life vision & purpose as well as becoming in demand as a Keynote Speaker on Mindset for organisations including Harcourts, MS Saatchi.  

In 2019 Sally combined her mindset IP and styling expertise to write her first book  "Dare More, Care Less" and when COVID lockdown hit days before her planned UK book tour, Sally pivoted and over the next two years began her successful podcast, and began providing mindset and strategy mentoring for business men and women.  

Sally not only pivoted online providing Mindset Workshops for WFH teams to maintain connection and Employee engagement but  used her values to maintain a positive mindset and career trajectory and moved into NFPs, using her career expertise,  skills & connections  to create social enterprises, strategic pathways and employment partnerships, personal development, digital literacy  & business skills courses  for  Beyond DV, supporting women and children to rebuild their lives following domestic and family violence. 

In February 2022, the world changed irrevocably for Sally and her two daughters, when  Jason, her beloved husband of 24 years, died unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm whilst on a regular Saturday morning bicycle ride. 

The unimaginable became their new reality.  

But Sally told her children she would ensure they thrive and live joyfully rather than their lives and potential be ever marred by the tragedy. 

Over the last 36 months Sally has navigated her own grief, whilst supporting her kids and  shared her journey through social media outlets, becoming an unofficial grief mentor and igniting the development of a new book project and a TV series collaboration. 

If there is something Sally is a go to on, it is the mindset to keep living, learning, loving , evolving and reinventing oneself and to focus on living a heart and value led life of joy, peace, connection, prosperity & purpose.
