ABOUT SALLY & STYLE
Sally Steele has been a Sustainable Style Advocate since childhood, with strong memories of her mother being by far the most stylish person at the hockey sidelines, dressed in reworked or preowned designer pieces from charity shops.
A mantra was always "Curate don't Consume" and from an early age, she was taught that the stories you make and the memories you have in the clothes are more important than how much it cost or the designer label. For Sally, Style is being yourself on purpose.
When she gave up her Film & TV business & moved north to Brisbane, pregnant and jobless with a toddler to care for ailing parents, she reinvented her career, branding herself "STEELEMyStyle" - a mobile Personal Stylist, Life Coach and Sustainable Style Consultant to help others learn that "Style is an Inside Job".
When her father died in 2016, Sally realised that her bold Personal Style allowed her to express a piece of herself and anchored her during sad, turbulent times and she created the #RealStreetStyle #SpotMyStyle online IG community to support others with combined 250k posts to date. During this time, Sally's online presence grew and she began to work with brands providing fashion styling, brand strategy, content creation and creative production.
In 2019, with over 4000 women styled, Sally realised that for many the lack of self love had developed into overconsumption and so she decided to write a book about Mindset & Sustainable Style. By helping others "Ditch the Inner Bitch" she could teach them how to "Dare More, Care Less". Self-published the book was a hot seller and after a successful Australia and NZ book and speaking tour, Sally was heading to UK on her book tour in March 2020 when Covid hit. After the inevitable pivot, Sally started doing personal development workshops for teens, women and DV Survivors and has gifted over 300 books and free mindste and styling workshops to DV survivors since then. In 2023 Sally came on board as an Ambassador for Beyond DV in partnership with Brisbane Fashion Festival for "Dress to Express Day', a day to celebrate fashion freedom & walk in solidarity to honour DV survivors in their journey and has been involved as a speaker, panel interviewer and fashion show curator and presenter with TAFE QLD ANU students and DV survivors.
